Summary
of short story
Destroyed by Peter Martin is a
short story about the use illegal substances in the world of sports. He goes
into detail on how he believes it’s cheating. He believes the statistics
players get while on steroids don’t count, and that only their clean records
should be kept. He also discusses that the players that use have serious damage
to their bodies.
Paraphrasing
paragraph ten
In
this paragraph he says that the competition aspect of sports is obsolete if
players use steroids like it guarantees a win. He thinks the only true sport is
when they are all natural and are operating at the best of their abilities
unenhanced.
Paragraph 7
My favorite part is paragraph 7 where he describes the
ancient Olympians being true sportsman and the toughness of the true sport of the
ancient Olympian Games. The only thing is that if steroids where available
back then would they use them or deem them cheating.
Trevor, I like your summary and think you have done a relatively good job with conveying the main points. However, with the paraphrasing portion, we are still mirroring the text. Therefore, we have to revert from a summary like format, as you did, and be true to the text without using the same word choice. Then, we have to give the author credit. This means including an in-text citation.

Continue to work on these. If you revise, what woudl you do differently?
